Hi Everyone!
This past weekend I traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to meet up with my friend and colleague, Joe Bongiorno, for an intimate concert performance at Steinway of Phoenix on Saturday, May 10th, 2008. My husband and I drove down to Phoenix from Salt Lake City, Utah (about a 10 hour drive) and had a lovely travel adventure. We met up with Joe the day before the concert and Steinway of Phoenix was wonderful to allow us 2 full hours of practice on Friday.

Saturday, the day of the concert, was as low stress as I could have hoped for. After a day of visiting with family and relaxing in the warm Phoenix sun, Joe and I prepared for the concert by setting up and playing the piano some more for warm-up. We had about 40 guests at the concert, which was a really good turnout considering neither of us are from Phoenix. We had an equal turnout of mailing list fans, Whisperings broadcast listeners, and friends and fans of Steinway of Phoenix. Joe and I pulled all the chairs in close around the piano and dimmed the lights for a more intimate concert experience.

At intermission we gave away some CD's of Whisperings artists and mingled with the crowd. One lady came up to me during intermission and asked if she could touch my fingers. She said that my fingers were the most beautiful she'd ever heard and that I play like I have 4 hands instead of 2. It was very sweet and put a huge smile on my face.

The concert was a huge success and both Joe and I made some new fans. In fact, after the concert we enjoyed a light dinner at The Cheesecake Factory with Joe and some of his truest fans from Phoenix, the Neal family. They helped organize this concert, and it was an absolute pleasure meeting them. Thank you Ken Neal and family for all your support!

I would like to give a very special Thank You to Joe Bongiorno for a wonderful visit and concert experience in Phoenix this past weekend. It was an absolute pleasure and honor to perform with you and I look forward to being able to share the stage with you again.

MEDIA
My song "The Lonely Ballerina" recently inspired a young writer named Danni Katana to write a "fanfiction" story about a lonely ballerina and her love. It is a delightful story, very descriptive and well written, I enjoyed it very much. I have posted her story on my website and encourage you to give it a look. It makes me happy that my music can inspire others to create their own works of art and I'd like to thank Danni for her story.

Six of my songs are currently available as sheet music and recently I've received numerous requests for more songs to become available. In the next few months, I anticipate having six more pieces transcribed, so be sure to keep an eye out for them. WHISPERINGS AT NAMM
In January, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the largest
music products trade show with six of my Whisperings colleagues. Not
only was I able to experience an enormous and impressive music trade
show and learn about a vast spectrum of musical instruments, software,
equipment, etc., I also was able to meet several of my colleagues for
the first time and build some amazing friendships. We spent the whole
weekend together, hanging out and playing some fantastic pianos and it
was a great start to what has become the annual Whisperings gathering
at NAMM. I am already looking forward to next year. The official

Successful "Whisperings Appearance" at Winter NAMM 2008
Anaheim, CA: On Saturday, January 19, 2008, seven Whisperings
pianists joined together at the Galileo Music Exhibit of the 2008
Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California for the first annual NAMM
Whisperings Artist Appearance. Pianists David Nevue, Joe Yamada, Louis
Landon, Joe Bongiorno, Catherine Marie Charlton, Michele McLaughlin,
and Gary Girouard each performed a few compositions during the
Appearance, and held a giveaway of autographed CDs from over 30
Whisperings artists. The NAMM Show is the largest music products trade
show in the United States. Held every January in Anaheim, the show
brings together all facets of the music products industry to reveal
new musical instruments, products, and ideas.

"This was a great opportunity to share Whisperings piano solos with
music industry professionals," said Whisperings pianist Joe Yamada.
"To have that kind of presence at an international music event like
Winter NAMM was incredible exposure for the station and undoubtedly
will increase the recognition and listenership of Whisperings Solo
Piano Radio."

Nearly 80,000 NAMM members and their guests attend the Winter NAMM
Show each year.

"The NAMM Show is always so loud and chaotic... the piano music (at
the Whisperings appearance) rejuvenated my soul," said one new
Whisperings fan who had never heard of SoloPianoRadio.com until the
NAMM show.

Throughout the rest of the NAMM Show, Whisperings visited various
piano exhibits to demo some of the new top of the line pianos.
Favorites included the Kawai "Shigeru VII" and the Bosendorfer Model
280. Late Saturday afternoon, Whisperings visited the Kawai Exhibit
and five Whisperings artists performed on five Kawai "Shigeru Series"
grand pianos simultaneously.

Whisperings participation with the 2008 Winter NAMM Show was very
well received. It marked the beginning of an annual Whisperings
presence at future Winter NAMM Shows in Anaheim.

There has been a slight change in details for my upcoming concert

March 1st, 2008 at 7:00pm. It turns out that Jim Brickman is playing
in Salt Lake City that very same night we were to play in February,
and rather than cause you anguish over who to see in concert for
Valentines Day, we thought it best to move the concert ahead two

It is with extreme excitement and anticipation that I announce one of my upcoming concerts. My friend and colleague, Jace Vek, and I will be performing together on Friday, February 15th, 2008 in a romantic Valentine's Day event. We will be performing in beautiful downtown Salt Lake City at Baldassin Pianos on a 9’ Fazioli. For those of you who came to my concert with Jennifer Thomas in November, you know how amazing this venue is! I am very excited to perform there again and to share the stage with this extremely talented pianist.

Jace Vek is a stunning musician; his music is haunting and powerful, yet sweet and charming, and transports the listener into Jace's musical world of wonder. Self-taught from an early age, Jace went on to receive a full music scholarship at West Virginia University after a successful audition for the Creative Arts program. He spent years performing for and awing crowds at local resorts, and later performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony. Jace has also composed scores for several documentaries, commercials, and films, one of which won him an Emmy Award. His most recent projects include music composed for ballets performed by the Ballet Lafayette Organization and a Christmas CD, which he released this month.

I am extremely excited and honored to share the stage with Jace. His music has been a favorite of mine for several years after I heard some of his solo piano works on Whisperings Solo Piano Radio http://www.whisperings.com. I remember the first time I heard his music I ran over to my computer to see who was playing this beautiful piece. CONCERTS
My concert with Jennifer Thomas on November 24th, 2007 was an enormous success!!! We sold out the 100 seat venue and instead of getting to perform on what we thought was going to be a 7’6” Fazioli, we were able to perform on an amazing 9’ Fazioli… the most beautiful piano I have ever played. Jennifer started the concert with three of her compositions from her album, Key of Sea, and then I took the stage with three of my compositions from the new album. Jennifer took the stage again with three more of her compositions and I ended the first half of the concert with three more compositions from the new album. We then took a short intermission so we could mingle with the crowd. When the concert resumed, Jennifer played a final four of her compositions including an amazing and highly technical “Boogie Woogie Bumble Bee” song that left the audience howling, clapping and cheering. I finished the concert with a final four songs from previous albums, ending the concert with my arrangement of Silent Night. The first concert will be in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Saturday, October
27th, 2007 at 7:30pm. Jennifer will be performing at the Piano
Gallery and has invited me to join her as a special guest. This is a
free concert and seating is limited. If you are near the Idaho Falls
area, please drop by for an evening of beautiful music.

The second concert will be held at Baldassin Piano in beautiful
downtown Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, November 24th, 2007 at
7:00pm. Jennifer and I have been planning to perform a concert
together for nearly a year now and we are both very excited that our
plans are finally coming to fruition. And, not only will we be
performing together in this joint concert, we will also be playing on
what has recently become my most favorite piano in the world... a
Fazioli. Jennifer told me about the Fazioli (a piano I had never
played on) and asked if we could "Please!!!" perform our concert at
the Fazioli dealer in SLC because it has been her dream to perform on
a Fazioli. Baldassin Piano is only Fazioli dealer in the Western
United States (which means there aren't any in her hometown of
Seattle) and when I played on their piano while researching this
venue I was blown away by the clarity and beauty this piano has to
offer. Of course, I agreed with Jenni and we are now both extremely
excited to perform for you at this amazing venue on such a beautiful

Hi Everyone!
Fall is just around the corner and summer for me this year has flown
by. So much has happened during these last months: I got married,
spent three weeks in Europe, quit my "day job" so that I can work on
my music full time, spent an enormous amount of time with my family,
performed in a music concert with pianist/composer Gary Girouard,
started some great music projects, and read some great books. I hope
you have had a wonderful summer as well... it's hard to believe it is
almost over!

SHEET MUSIC
I have great news! I am in the process of getting some of my most
popular songs transcribed into sheet music. I am hoping to have
these songs available for download in the next month or two. I have
appreciated all of the emails and requests I've received recently
requesting sheet music and am working hard to make that available as
soon as possible. I will send an update as soon as it is ready with
the links for sites you will be able to purchase it from.

If you have requests for specific pieces of music you would like in

Warm wishes to you and yours this wonderful spring season! It has been a while since my last newsletter and I have many important things to share with you. Please take the time to read my April newsletter as it contains an important issue I would like to ask your help with.

First, and what I consider to be of the utmost importance, there is a new issue, which is causing concern to many artists and webcasters alike. The US Copyright Royalty Board has declared, under a new ruling released 3/2/07, that Web Broadcasters must pay recording companies each time a single listener hears a single song played on their Internet Radio Broadcast. This ruling, if it goes into effect, would almost certainly force Web Broadcasters out of business. This means that Internet Radio Broadcasting would disappear. Your favorite online radio stations such as Pandora, GotRadio, Choice Radio, XM Internet Radio, Sirius Internet Radio, Rhapsody, Live365, and many others would be greatly affected by this ruling. You can read about this ruling in detail at http://www.savethestreams.org/ and http://www.savethestreams.org/serendipity/pages/faq.html. I would like to ask for your help on this issue by asking you to voice your protest against this atrocity. In the top right hand corner of SaveTheStreams.org there is a link to sign a petition asking Congress to take action against this unfortunate ruling. Below that link is another link, which allows you to send a message to your representatives in Congress voicing your concern on this matter. Please sign this petition and help save Internet Broadcasting.

I would like to share a story with you. I have been blessed in my life to have two mothers... my birth mother and my step mother. My step mother has been a part of my life since I was just two years old. She took me in, accepted me as her own daughter and raised me from the time I was very little. I consider her to be my mom and she is very important to me. She has always been very supportive of me and my music and I am so very grateful to have her in my life. She is one of my biggest fans and I owe her a very big thanks for everything that she has done for me over the years, in both my personal life and my musical career. My birth mother, whom I did not know very well when I was a child, has always been more of a friend to me than anything else. During my teenage years she and I became very close and she played a very big part in helping me to become the person I am today. On May 6th, my birth mother died and I have spent the last few months grieving the loss of not only a good friend, but one of my mothers who was very special to me. I owe to her a very big thanks for my music and the growth that it has seen over the last seven years. It was she who pushed me into making my first album, Beginnings. Without that push, and without the encouragement and support of my family, friends and fans thereafter, I would not have seven albums of music to share with you today. So thank you, to both of my mothers. I love you both very much.

I hope you are having a wonderful April. May is just around the corner, Spring is here, the weather is warming up and it is so nice to spend some time outside in the sunshine. A lot has been happening during the last month since my last newsletter.

My new album, Reflections 2000-2005 - The Best of Michele McLaughlin, is almost complete and ready for release. I am excited to share this album with you. The 20 songs I have included on this album have all been re-recorded live in the studio on an acoustic grand. It sounds incredible compared to my previous releases and I am so excited for you to hear it.

I will be sending my new album to CD Baby this week. It will take them about a week to make it available on their site and will take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months to be available on all of the digital downloading sites such as iTunes. Keep looking for it online at http://www.cdbaby.com/all/nali22btm - it's almost here!!

The list of downloading sites my music has been submitted to keeps growing. I have updated my Links page on my website http://www.michelemclaughlin.com/links with a complete list of sites my music has been sent to. It takes some of these sites anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months to get the music loaded into their systems, so if you do not see me yet on some of them, please be patient.

I have updated http://www.download.com/michele_mclaughlin with a couple of free downloads from the new album. Please be sure to visit my page on download.com and download your free songs to help me climb the charts.

Hi Everyone!!!
I hope you are having a nice beginning to the month of March. Spring is just around the corner and I am looking forward to the change in season. My "Best Of" album is under way and if all goes well, I plan to release it before the month is over. I have some exciting ideas and plans for my music in the coming months... please be sure to stay tuned for updates!

Lately I have been reminded just how important friends and family are. How a simple hug can lift you up, a smile can brighten your day, and a phone call or an email just to say "Hi" can make all the difference in the world. To all of my friends and family (you know who you are), thank you so much for your support and your friendship... it means the world to me and I love you all very much.

Recently, I have had many requests for sheet music of my songs. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not have any sheet music available online for purchase. I have been doing some research as to how I can make it available for those who want it, and I will be sure to keep you posted once I get something set up. Any suggestions are welcome. In the meantime, if you have a particular song you would like, please let me know so I can have an idea as to which songs to work on.
